The Gunnison Basin is a special part of Colorado.  The people here care about game management.  They are active and assertive and have worked to get some of the hunting units totally limited and to change the Mule Deer management.  Thanks to those efforts, trophy Mule Deer and buck to doe ratios of 30 to over 50 bucks per 100 does are available here.  Mule Deer hunting is totally limited in Colorado, but in the Gunnison basin, we the citizens, sportsmen and businesses got the Colorado Wildlife Commission to cut hunting pressure and bring our deer back from disaster to exceptional. 

 

Elk hunting is limited in all units during some seasons, some units during all seasons and some seasons in some units are still available for over the counter bull tags.  There is and always will be lots of  opportunity for Elk hunting in the Gunnison Basin.

 

It takes luck or time to draw licenses for Antelope, Bighorn Sheep, Mountain Goat and Moose, but the wait is worth it and the Outfitters you will find in this website can give you the chance of a life time hunt.
